Climate UN agency announced it had confirmed a new record for the highest measured wave that was 19 meters high. The wave was registered by a float on the landscape between Britain and Iceland.
This is the first time to measure and confirm the wave of 19 meters, and it is an amazing record” – said Vendzhian Jeandet, assistant secretary at the agency.
This wave broke the previous record measured in December 2007 in the North Atlantic which was little over 18 meters.
The area between Iceland and Britain is often a place where are registered giant waves. World Meteorological agency which monitors such phenomena now add the new height for the largest wave in the list of climatic extremes.
